Graduate Chicago High School. Studied law for 3 years in offices of Hoyne, Miller & Lewis (of which father was senior member), Bachelor of Laws, old University of Chicago Law School, 1866.
Moses B. Maclay, January 25, 1871. Joined father’s firm, 1867, changed to Horton & Hoyne, on death of father in 1883, so continuing until 1887, when Oliver H. Horton was elected to the bench, firm now Hoyne, O’Connor & Irwin. Elected as additional circuit judge, 1903, but Supreme Court later declared act creating additional circuit judges invalid.
