DEANE, Thomas Manly was born on June 8, 1851 in Ferney, Company Cork. Son of late Sir Thos. Newenham Deane and Henrietta Manly, daughter of Joseph Manly of Ferney, Company Cork, and grandson of Sir Thos.

Education
Studied at Private schools. Trinity College Dublin. Bachelor of Arts.
Career
Pupil of the late William Burges, Associate of the Royal Academy, Architect. Studied architecture in France, 1875. Gained travelling studentship, Royal Academy, 1870.
Studied in Italy till 1878. On ! return to Dublin entered into partnership with his late father, and with him in 1884 gained in competition the important work of building the Science and Art Museum and the National Library for Ireland. His firm were invited to compete in limited competition for the ! Imperial Institute Buildings, 1887, and under 1 similar circumstances for the completion of South Kensington Museum, 1891.
His design was prerniated for the Glasgow Art Galleries in Kelvingrove Park, 1892. In the same partnership was architect to several public and private buildings in Dublin and throughout Ireland, and the Physiological Laboratory and i Anthropological Museum, Oxford University, i were built from their designs. Has recently I been architect for extensive alterations and addi- ! lions to National Gallery of Ireland, and is joint architect with Sir Aston Webb, R.A., I for the new Royal College of Science in Dublin.
