Engineer N.P. R.R., 1869-1873, locating railroad from Lake Pend d’Oreille westward to coast. Admitted to practice, Supreme Court of the Oregon, October, 1874, and since in practice at Portland. Established, 1891, and ever since president, ctiy board of charities, Portland.
Member and secretary, 1891-1892, Oregon State Board of Charities. Prepared and published its report, 1892. Served 6 years in 1st Regiment Infantry, Oregon National Guard, retiring as captain and inspector rifle practice.
Member and later Chairman of Commission of 100 (reform committee) of Portland. V.-p. National Municipal League, National Civ. Service Reform League.
