Thomas Quint Donaldson, American army officer. Decorated Distinguished Service Medal; Legion of Honor (French). Competitor division and army cavalry competitions, 1903, 1904, and also member National Cavalry Rifle Team, 1907. member National Cav.


Donaldson, Thomas Quint was born on June 26, 1864 in Greenville, South Carolina, United States. Son of Technology Q. and Susan B. (Hoke) Donaldson.


Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1887. Distinguished graduated from Army School of the Line, 1909. Graduated from Army Staff College, 1910.


Commissioned add. Second lieutenant 3d Cavalry, June 12, 1887. Brigadier general (temporary), February 18, 1918. Brigadier general (permanent ), January 16, 1925.

Promoted to rank of major general, December 11, 1927. Participated in campaign against Sioux Indians in South Dakot, 1890-1891. In action at Wounded Knee and White Clay Creek.

Professor military science and tactics, Patrick Military Institute, Anderson, South Carolina., 1891-1893, Clemson Agricultural College, Fort Hill, South Carolina., 1893-1895. In Cuba, 1898-1899; with 8th United States Cavalry in Philippines, 1905-1907, 1910-1914. Assigned duty Inspector General’s Department, 1914.

Arrived in France, September 1, 1918. Inspector general Service of Supply, Tours, France, September 1918-June 1919. Retired, 1931.
