Educated Hanover (Virginia) Academy and University of Virginia.

Career

Member Southern Guard, University of Virginia, and 2d Company Richmond Howitzers. First lieutenant Company A, 55th Virginia Infantry, C.S.A. Wounded at Petersburg, Virginia, September 30, 1864.

Admitted to bar, March 22, 1867. Commonwealth’s attorney, Essex Company, Virginia, 1870-1892. Presidential elector, 1888.

Judge 9th and (now) 12th Judicial Circuits of Virginia, since 1892.
