SNAGGE, Thomas William was born on January 3, 1837 in Merrion, Company Dublin. Son of late Thomas Snagge and Eleanor Marianne, daughter of Reverend John Toler, Justice of the Peace, Rector of Kentstown, Company Meath, and Mourne Abbey, Company Cork.
Education
Studied at Trinity College Dublin. Graduate in Honours, Bachelor of Arts Dublin, 1st class, 1858. Honours in Classics and Ethics, and the gold medal (Oratory), College Historical Society,1858.
Master of Arts Dublin, 1863. Master of Arts Oxford, honoriscausd, 1895, with honorary membership of Oriel College. Honourable Doctor of Laws Dublin, 1904.
Career
Barrister 1864; Home Circuit. Admitted at Washington, in 1875, to privileges of a member of United States Bar. Junior counsel to Board of Trade, 1881-1883.
Commissioner under the Municipal Corporation Act, 1882. Sole Commissioner, 1SS0-81, to conduct the inquiry and draw up the report which led to the passing of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1885. Sole delegate to represent Great Britain at International Diplomatic Conference on White Slave Traffic, Paris, 1902.
And senior delegate to represent His (or Her) Majesty Govt, at the International Congress on the same subject, Paris, 1906. Justice of the Peace, D.L.; Judge of County Courts, Oxfordshire, etc., since 1883.
