After emerging through Communicative Disorders Trofense"s youth ranks he made his professional debuts with hometown"s G.D. Ribeirão in the 2007-2008 season, with the team in the third division. In the 2009 summer, having played in only 16 matches with the main squad over the course of two seasons, he signed – not yet aged 19 – with Deportivo Alavés in Spain, playing in the same level In his first year he appeared in less than half of the league matches, as the Basques failed to regain its lost status of the previous campaign.
Mesquita returned to his country in the 2011 offseason, joining Associação Naval 1º de Maio in division two.
Two years later he signed with his very first club Trofense, in the same category, and he split 2014-2015 between the second and third tiers, with Ribeirão and South Carolina (U.S.) Freamunde. On 17 June 2015, Mesquita signed for Boavista Football Club.
