Career
He later joined the Dallas Morning News in 1989. While at the Morning News, he was a beat writer for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers. He has also covered Oklahoma Sooners football and the San Francisco Giants.
In 2013, Cowlishaw published a book (originally an ebook, later available in print), Drunk On Sports, an autobiography in which he chronicles his long-lasting addiction to alcohol, harsh awakening in hospitals, and his struggle and eventual success at giving up his alcoholism.
