Haun played college hockey with Augustana University of the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC). Haun started his professional career with the Jacksonville Barracudas of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) where, in his rookie 2007-2008 season, he led the SPHL with a 2.45 goals against average and a 0.920 save percentage. He was recognized for his outstanding play when he was selected as the 2007-2008 SPHL Goaltender of the Year and named to the First All-Star Team.
Following that season, the Barracudas announced they were suspending operations and Haun was selected first overall in the SPHL dispersal draft by the Huntsville Havoc.
He played 25 games with the Havoc during the 2008-2009 before moving on to the International Hockey League (IHL) where he played out the season with the Fort Wayne Komets.
