He currently serves as the offensive coordinator at Holmes Community College. He served as the head football coach at the Georgia Southern University from 1990 to 1995 and at the University of Rhode Island from 2000 to 2007, compiling a career college football coaching record of 84–80. Stowers served as the offensive coordinator and assistant head football at coach at Central Connecticut State University from 2010 to 2012.
Stowers 2010 CCSU offense was first in 9 of 14 Northeast Conference Statistical Categories for the 2010 CCSU Nippon Electric Corporation Company-Champions.
His Offensive line was in the top 8 and 12 respectively in 2010 and 2011 nationally in giving up fewest sacks per game. Stowers has recruited and/or coached 50 All-Americans and 100 plus All-Conference players during his tenure.
Stowers 2003 University of Rhode Island Team set the All-Time A-10 now Civil Aeronautics Administration Conferences rushing record averaging 334.1 yards per game. Stowers URI National Collegiate Athletic Association APR averaged 932 is above National Collegiate Athletic Association acceptable graduation rates.
According to The Jackson Herald weekly newspaper, as of February 1, 2013, Stowers will begin serving as principal of East Jackson Comprehensive High School in Commerce, Georgia.
Holmes Community College led the Mississippi Association of Community & Junior Colleges (MACJC) in rushing in Stowers" initial and 2nd season at Holmes Central Committee. In 2015, Holmes Central Committee was 3rd nationally at 314 rushing yards per game, 462 total yards per game, 32 points per game and led the nation in yards per catch at 21 yards per completion.
