Tim W. Brown was born on October 28, 1961, in Rockford, Illinois, United States. He is a son of William Orla Brown, a tool and die maker, and Lillian Carol (Coryell) Brown, a secretary.
Brown received his bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University in 1983. He attended Washington State University and the University of Idaho, both in 1984.
Brown's career began at Roosevelt University, where he took the position of an instructor for ten years from 1986. He worked at Columbia College also as an instructor from 1997. Simultaneously, he served at a law firm Rudnick & Wolfe as a technical specialist from 1986 to 1997.
Brown was also a documentation analyst at the company Stopka and Associates from 1997, and was a member of planning committee of Underground Press Conference for a year from 1994. He then moved to the Printers Row Book Fair, where he held a position of a member of writers’ bazaar committee, from 1997 till 1998.
Brown is the author of a novel Deconstruction Acres, published in 1997, Left of the Loop, published in 2001 and Walking Man, which was issued in 2008. Brown also authored a picaresque, sci-fi/western Second Acts in 2011. His fiction reflects influences of American studies, literature, history, politics and anthropology, and comprises a pastiche of popular culture icons, historical events, cultural criticism, urban folklore and oddball trivia. His protagonists tend to be working-class in outlook, reflecting author's own family background. The comic mood informs his writing as well. Brown shares the moral outrage and lively humor common to all comedic writers from Aristophanes to Thomas Pynchon and has created stories which satirize modern institutions.
Brown currently works as a technologist for global financial institutions.

2010Quotations: "My writing reflects my widely varied personal and intellectual interests. I have always thought in big-picture terms, and I understood early in life that one must approach complex modern reality from multiple perspectives in order to make sense of it. My university major, American studies, encouraged multidisciplinary thinking and taught me to interpret my culture in light of literature, history, politics, and anthropology."
Brown is married to Audrey B. Pass in October 17, 1992.
