Career
Timothy Adams is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of International Finance(IIF). The IIF represents more than 480 global financial institutions, including many of the world"s largest banks, investment banks, and asset management firms. lieutenant monitors and reports on economic and financial developments in emerging markets and global capital markets.
In addition, the Institute serves as a forum for its members on key global financial issues, including regulatory issues and the policies of international financial institutions.
As the Institute"s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Adams is responsible for developing and executing the Institute"s programs under the guidance of the Board of Directors.
Prior to joining the IIF, Mr. Adams served as Managing Director of The Lindsey Group, an economic advisory firm based in Washington, District of Columbia. Previously, he served as Under Secretary of Treasury for International Affairs.
As Under Secretary, Mr.
Adams was the Administration"s point person on international financial issues, including exchange rate policy, G-7 meetings, and International Monetary Fund and World Bank issues. He regularly interacted with counterparts in key emerging markets including China, India, and Brazil and traveled extensively throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Mr. Adams also served in the White House under the first President Bush at the Office of Policy Development.
In 1993, Mr.
Adams co-founded the G-7 Group, a Washington-based advisory firm. He later headed their Washington operation as Managing Director. Mr. Adams serves on various boards and committees, including the Center for Global Development in Washington, District of Columbia.
Trickle Up in New York, an organization that provides grants and support to poverty stricken women in West Africa, India and Central America.
And Saint Paul"s Foundation in Virginia. Mr. Adams holds a Bachelor of Surgery in Finance, a Masters in Public Administration, and an Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Kentucky.
