TIMOTHY Parker

Background

Timothy Parker was born in Hertfordshire, England in 1958 but has lived in Canada for several decades.

Education

University of California at Berkeley (A.B with honors, 1980). Hastings College of the Law, University of California (Juris Doctor, cum laude, 1987). Editor, Hastings College Law Review, 1986-1987.

Career

He started his writing career in 1981 publishing an article on South-BASIC, a structured basic compiler for the Kaypro computer. Shortly thereafter he began writing about the Commodore VIC-20 computer, writing several articles for Compute! magazine and Commander magazine, for which he also wrote a regular column entitled "Ravings of a Madman". Tim Parker has written for over two dozen different magazine titles focused on the computer industry.

Frequent contributions were made to Windows Northwest Territories Systems Magazine, Windows Northwest Territories Expert, Advanced Systems Magazine and many others

He wrote monthly columns for Canadian Computer Resller, Information Technology Datasystems and several other magazines. Tim Parker was the Technical Editor for SCO World Magazine from its inception to its closure.

Working with Linux" growing popularity, Tim also contributed heavily to Maximum Linux magazine and Linux Journal, and was the Technical Editor for Linux Server Computing magazine during its publication history. An avid photographer, Tim also contributed to several photographic magazines including Digital Foto.

To date, Tim has published approximately 3,500 articles, reviews, and columns.

Timothy Parker has written many commercially published books His first was Uniplex Information and Computing System User"s Handbook published in 1990 by Addison-Wesley. A set of Linux books was published by Sams Publishing, including Linux Unleashed, Slackware Linux Unleashed, Redhat Linux Unleashed and Linux System Administrator"s Survival Guide.

All titles went through several editions.

Sams also published Tim"s TCP/Intellectual Property In 14 Days and TCP/Intellectual Property Unleashed. Prentice-Hall published Tim"s Linux To Go and Windows 98 To Go.

Tim"s books (over 50 to date) have been translated into several languages. Tim has worked for the last two decades in the software development field, leading R&Doctorate groups for a variety of high-technology companies.
