He was also Deputy Prime Minister and Military Affairs Minister until November 2001. He not only took the position of Quartermaster-General and led the 22nd Light Infantry Division during the 1988 uprising in Burma, but also was the chairman of Myanmar Economic Cooperation (MEC).
