He umpired his first Major League Baseball (MLB) game on June 24, 2012. He had been umpiring baseball games since the age of 12. He attended the Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School at the age of 19, where he was identified as an umpiring prospect by a professional evaluation course.
He reported to the rookie-level Gulf Coast League.
He spent several seasons in the lower minor leagues. He worked his first full season in Class American Automobile Association in 2010.
