Tokitsugu Yamashina had the official rank of Gcm-dainagon (vice-minister). Deploring the deterioration of the Imperial Court he persuaded Nobunaga Oda to repair the Palace and to observe the death anniversary of Emperor Gonara. His work "Genkei Kyoki" is valued as a record of his days.
