Tokushichi Mishima was born on the24th of February, 1893 in Mishima, Japan. His original family name was Kizumi.
Tokushichi Mishima began his career in 1920 as an assistant professor at Tokyo University and later concurrently was appointed as a professor at Naval Staff College in 1923. He was sent to Europe for further studies in 1935, and upon return, he rejoined Tokyo University as a professor of metallurgy and alloy science in 1938.
Tokushichi Mishima earned world-wide fame with his invention of strong magnetic steel, that was made from nickel and aluminum in 1981. He was the recipient of the Imperial Academy Award in 1938 and in 1945, Order of Culture and Medal of Honor with Blue Ribbon in 1950, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun in 1975.
Tokushichi Mishima was a memeber of the Japan Academy.
