He was a disciple of Hanji Chikamatsu.
Career
He became a Kabuki writer. His masterpieces are Ise Ondo Koi No Netaba (Story of a physician who killed many persons in Ise Province), and Asagao Nikki (Love story of Miyuki, a blind maiden), which are now among the classics.
