Education
He became a disciple of Shimesuke Nakawa in Osaka.
Career
After becoming the head playwright of an Osaka theater in 1795, he accompanied Utaemon Nakamura III to Edo in 1810. After retiring in 1835, he operated a teahouse in Kyoto, calling himself Ippuku-Issen.
