Career
Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Abernathy starred at Saint Joseph"s High School and Indiana University, the 6"7" Abernethy was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the third round of the 1976 National Basketball Association Draft. He amassed 1,779 career National Basketball Association points. Abernethy now teaches children basketball at the International Business Alliance (Indiana Basketball Academy).
With a young buck by the name of Jack O"flaherty
Abernethy"s sons all played college basketball.
Andy"s and Matt"s younger brother Todd played ball for the University of Mississippi.
