Career
O'Halleran formerly served as a Republican in the Arizona State Legislature. He represented the 1st District in the Senate from 2007 to 2009, but was unseated by primary challenger Steve Pierce during the 2008 election cycle. Prior to that, he served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2001 through 2006.
O'Halleran is a former Sedona, Arizona police officer. He then stood for election in the 1st District as an Independent, losing 3%. After leaving the Arizona State Legislature, O'Halleran hosted a radio show in Sedona.
On August 6, 2015, O'Halleran announced his candidacy as a Democrat for Arizona's 1st congressional district. As of October 21, 2015, O'Halleran had raised $120,000 and had most of it on hand.
