Pursglove was educated at Sir Christopher Hatton School, a state comprehensive school in the market town of Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, where he grew up, and graduated from Queen Mary College, University of London.

In 2007, at the age of 18, Pursglove became the youngest councillor in the country when he was elected for the Croyland Ward on Wellingborough Borough Council. He has worked as a parliamentary assistant to Chris Heaton-Harris and worked with Peter Bone. He is one of the founders of Grassroots Out, an organization which advocates for United Kingdom withdrawal from the European Union, along with Conservative Member of Parliament Peter Bone and Labour Member of Parliament Kate Hoey.

He has been the Member of Parliament (Member of Parliament) for Corby since May 2015. Pursglove was elected as a Member of Parliament for Corby in the 2015 general election with a majority of 2,412 (43%).
