Spahn is a longtime musical director and arranger for and has worked with numerous musicians and composers on myriad projects, performances and recordings. Spahn started schooling at Blackhawk Elementary in Park Forest, Illinois from 1960 to 1968. Upon graduation from high school he enrolled in the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Illinois until offered a job with the Wright Brothers Show Band and the Playboy Club in Chicago, this is where he pursued his musical passions by joining this popular musical group and touring the United States for two years before settling in New York City in 1975.
In New York City, Spahn evolved from a musician, to vocal coach, audio engineer, musical director, orchestrator, producer, and composer.
Spahn operated Nola Recording Studios, Studio B, as a MIDI studio for many years, engineering and producing for Broadway theater, opera, musicals, television, radio, and movies. Spahn is currently working at Sesame Workshop Studios in Manhattan.
