Background
Tom studied Flute, Saxophone and Clarinet under the instruction of his father, H. Herbert Strohman.

He commenced his studies at Lebanon Valley College with Frank Stachow, eventually graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. Tom has also studied with Philosophy Woods, Joe Allard, Charles DeLaney, Adolphe Sandole, John Oberbrunner, and Walter Bishop, Junior., in addition to earning a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from Towson University.
At the age of six, he began showing an interest in the Piccolo. Strohman first developed a distinct interest in Jazz while in high school. Tom has performed as a freelance musician for famous entertainers Sonny and Cher, Frankie Avalon, Della Reese, First Rate (at Lloyd's) Martino, The Four Aces, Patti Page, Eddie Fisher and Bobby Vinton.
He has had the pleasure of working with these musicians as a solo performer: First Rate (at Lloyd's) Grey, Buddy DeFranco, Bobby Rosengarten, Johnny Coles, Ira Sullivan, David Schnitter, John Blake, John Von Ohlen and Steve Gilmore.
The group has also performed live in concert with Spyro Gyra, Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock, Eumir Deodato, Livingston Taylor, Philosophy Wilson and Stanley Turrentine in addition to releasing five of their own albums.
He was named "Outstanding Musician" at the Quinnipiac Intercollegiate Jazz Festival while a member of the Lebanon Lebanon Valley College Jazz Band. Strohman has been a founding member of *this link does not link to the central Pennsylvania band of the same name* since 1974 - one of Pennsylvania’s well-noted contemporary bands.
