Tomejiro Okubo was an official of the Home Ministry and held posts in charge of police affairs. Was appointed Governor of Chiba Prefecture and Mayor of Tokyo (1939). After World War II, he was purged from public office but was depurged (1950). Elected member of the House of Representatives three times (since 1946). Minister-without-portfolio in the Ishibashi (1956) and 1st Kishi (1957) Cabinets.
