Tomisaki Shunsho was born on September 12, 1880 in Osaka, Japan. He was a grandchild of Tamazo Yoshida, expert puppet showman of Bunrakuza Theater.
At age of eight Tomisaki Shunsho launched upon career as musician of koto and samisen. At age of 25 was bereaved of his master, Sojun Tomisaki; same year succeeded to 'his family stage name, becoming Tomisaki II and changed his first name to Shunsho.
Tomisaki Shunsho was nominated member of Art Academy in 1948 and designated holder of the National Craft Citation in 1955. He served as president of Sankyoku Society (Sankyoku-three musical instruments).
Tomisaki Shunsho composed many tunes among which is Yomogiu (Dilapidated land or area overgrown with weeds) (words written by Jun-ichiro Tanizaki). This was selected in N.H.K.'s radio entry in the Art Festival of 1948 and was awarded the Education Minister's Prize.
Physical Characteristics: At age of four lost his sight because of eye disease.
