Career
Born in, County, Ring first excelled at hurling in his youth. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the minor team He made his senior debut in the 1956 championship.
His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1972 championship.
Ring is widely regarded as one of "s greatest hurlers. In 2000 he was named in the right wing-forward position on the Hurling Team of the Millennium.
