He graduated from Kyoto University in 1929.
Tomohei Taniguchi was an assistant professor of Osaka Commercial College at first, then he became professor in 1942. He became professor of Osaka Municipal University in 1950. He engaged in the study of comparative private laws. Especially he intended to study the system of comparative law in England, America, Germany, France and Soviet Russia, and introduced the system of private law in Japan. He received his law degree with the publication of his thesis "The Study of Excessive Profit" in 1949.
He was editor of "Review of Civil and Commercial Law" (Minsho Ho Zasshi), also he was director of Association of Private Jurisprudence, Association of Comparative Jurisprudence and Juristic and Social Scientific Association.
