He was rated by Scout.com as a five-star recruit and was ranked among the best safeties in his class. He committed to the University of Mississippi (Ole Mission) to play college football. Also a standout in track & field, Conner recorded personal-bests of 10.73 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 21.06 seconds in the 200-meter dash in 2010.
As a true freshman at Ole Mission in 2013, Conner played in all 13 games and made 12 starts.
On the first play of his college career he recorded an interception. He finished the year with 66 tackles and one sack.
As a sophomore in 2014, Conner started all 13 games, recording 69 tackles, one interception and one sack.
