Career
He served as the head football coach at the University of Cincinnati from 1973 to 1976 and at the University of Arizona from 1977 to 1979, compiling a career college football record of 41–37–1. He was elected to the Ohio High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2002. Mason died on July 23, 1994 at the age of 66 after he collapsed at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
