Torajiro Kojima was born in Okayama Prefecture, Japan in 1881.

Torajiro Kojima was first a disciple of Takeji Fujishima and then attended the Tokyo Fine Arts School. After graduating (1908) proceeded to France for further study.
While in France Torajiro Kojima took charge of purchasing paintings for the Magosaburo Ohara Collection and brought them back to Japan to be treasured at Ohara Museum, Okayama City. He was judge of Teiten (Imperial Art Exhibition) in 1927. His last work of art entitled "Landscape of Time" is said to be his masterpiece.
