Career
1898-1914 taught at Moscow Engineer College and other higher educational establishments. From 1913 professor, Khar’kov University. From 1921 professor, Moscow Means of Communication Institute.
From 1923 professor, Irkutsk University. From 1926 worked at State Optical Institute. From 1938 professor, Leningrad University.
Did research on light absorption in colored media on the basis of electron theory. 1923-1926 studied fluctuations in the level of the water basins of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. 1926, while in charge of photographic laboratory at State Optical Institute, supervised research on the nature of the latent photographic image.
Also studied the history of physics.
