  • Achievements include research on bladderwrack, Fucus vesiculosus is the dominating macroalgae in the major part of the Baltic Sea. On rocky bottoms, the species form dense stands from 0.5m down to about 6 m depth. Extensive bladder-wrack stands is essential for maintaining the bio-diversity in the littoral zone of the Baltic Sea.

    In the bladderwrack stands, ecologically and commercially important fish species as herring and pike, both feed and reproduce.
