Harada Toshiaki served as instructor of Kyushu University, of the Tokyo Bunrika (literature and science) University and of Kyoto University, engaged in investigating Japan's rural villages. Appointed professor of Jingii Kogakukan College (1942) and assumed the present post (1949). Appointed director of the Library of Kumamoto University (1950) and also dean of the Law and Literature Department of the university.
