Toshika Maeda was born in 1841.
After his elder brother Toshiyuki retired, Toshika Maeda succeeded him as Lord of Daishoji Clan of Ishikawa Prefecture with the title of Hida-no-Kami (1855). Later was appointed commander of the guard of the south gate of Imperial Palace (1865). Fought for the Imperial Army during the Boshin-no-Eki (1868). After the Meiji Restoration held many important government posts and was elected to House of Peers and created Viscount.
