Toshizane Honda was born in Edo (now Tokyo), the eldest son of Toshishige.
He was trained in archery by his father. Was appointed teacher of archery at the First Higher School in Tokyo (1892) and also taught at the Tokyo Fine Arts School and other schools. He brought changes in the Chikurin School of archery and developed his own Honda School. Established the Kyudokan, an archery training institute (1916). Among his disciples were many good archers.
