Career
Toyo Yoshino made debut in Jingii (Meiji Shrine Grounds) Athletic Meet, participating in running broad jump, 100-meter race and in 400-meter relay as member of the team which established Japanese record of 50.1 seconds (1937).
After the war has been active exclusively as discus- thrower winning championship for Kansai District (1950) and establishing the current Japanese record of 44.86 meters (1952). Captured Asian Athletic Meet Championship in discus, placed fourth with 43.81 meters in discus event in 15th Olympic Games (1952) held at Helsinki.
