In 1917 Toyokichi studied at Tokyo University.
Joined the Mitsubishi Company. Became later Vice-president of the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater. After the end of the Pacific War, he became president of the Imperial Theater in Tokyo. Proficient in German, he translated Goethe Sorrows of Werther and “Faust” and Erich Maria Remarque’s “All Quiet On the Western Front.” Wrote many essays on sundry subjects.
