She attended Sidney Lanier High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Accounting in 1995.

She has been a weather anchor for KPIX in San Francisco. She reported the weather for the weekday edition of Columbia Broadcasting System 5 Eyewitness News from 5-7 and Noon. Tracy joined the station in December, 2007.
Prior to KPIX, Humphrey worked for 4 years at WNYW Fox 5 in New York City as the weekend weather anchor and feature reporter.
Humphrey also worked at WPHL in Philadelphia, WTVH in Syracuse, WKBW in Buffalo and WJCL in Savannah. Humphrey was raised in Montgomery, Alabama.
Later, she attended the Newhouse School of Journalism at Syracuse University where she received a Masters in Broadcast Journalism in 1998. She has completed at least 20 semester hours of college level coursework in the atmospheric or related sciences and she has at least ten years of professional experience in the field of Meteorology.
Humphrey is the current weekend meteorologist at 11Alive News.
Previously, Humphrey worked at KPIX in San Francisco and 4 years as the weekend weather anchor for WNYW, the Fox affiliate in New York City. She was also a feature reporter for Good Day New York and produced a weekly segment, "Living Large", highlighting multimillion-dollar real estate in New York City. Humphrey began her career in Savannah, Georgia as the weekday weather anchor for WJCL. Afterwards, she worked for WTVH in Syracuse, New York as the weekend weather anchor and weekday weather reporter.
In 2001, Humphrey then moved to WKBW in Buffalo, New York as the weekday morning weather anchor.
While working in Buffalo, New York, Humphrey performed a bungee jump during the station"s morning newscast. lieutenant was the bungee jump, that caught the eye of the news director at WPHL-television in Philadelphia.
He hired Humphrey as the weekend weather anchor/weekend feature reporter for the station.
Humphrey is also a member of the American Meteorological Society.
