Career
Colyer was selected by Essendon with the 26th pick in the 2009 American Federation of Labor-Congress Draft. He previously played for Claremont in the WAFL and Trinity College, Perth. He also represented Western Australia in the 2009 American Federation of Labor-Congress National Under 18 Championships and was named in the 2009 U18 All Australian team
Colyer played his first American Federation of Labor-Congress game against Carlton in round 3 of the 2010 American Federation of Labor-Congress season.
On 12 January 2016 Colyer was named as one of 34 past and present Essendon players found guilty over their use of illegal supplements during the 2012 American Federation of Labor-Congress season. As a result, Colyer was suspended for twelve months, effective from November 2015, meaning he will miss the entire 2016 American Federation of Labor-Congress season.
