He is Chief Executive Officer of Bedell Cellars, a vineyard on the North Fork of Long Island. When Trent took over Bedell Cellars in 2007 at age 29, he became the youngest winery chief executive in the world. Trent is also an artist who crafts elaborate wooden canoes, and he was named one of the Top 10 Tastemakers of 2015 by OUT Magazine, the world"s largest gay fashion and lifestyle publication.
Bedell Cellars was the first New York winery awarded a spot on Wine Business Monthly"s list of Top 10 Hottest Small Brands in 2007.
Trent was also instrumental in securing the placement of Bedell Cellars Merlot as the exclusive red wine of President Barack Obama"s 2013 Inaugural Luncheon—the first time in American history that a New York wine was served at a Presidential Inauguration. Trent is a contributing wine writer for The Huffington Post and is Chairman of the Board for both the New York Wine & Grape Foundation and WineAmerica, the National Association of American Wineries in Washington, District of Columbia A South Dakota native, Trent graduated from Iowa State University and holds an Master of Surgery in Agricultural Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy in Horticulture, both from Cornell University.
