Kauffman, Treva Erdine was born on September 23, 1889 in Osborne, Ohio, United States. Daughter of Theodore and Anna Laura (Hershey) Kauffman.

Began as teacher Hamilton (O.) public schools, 1911. Instructor Ohio State University Extension Service, 1913-1915. Organizer of school lunch program in rural and centralized schools of Ohio, 1915-1916.

State leader 4-H Girls Work, 1916-1917. Assistant professor home economics, O. State University, 1917-1920. State supervisor home economics education, Ohio 1918-1920, for New York State Education Department, 1920-1959.

Acting chief, bureau of Home Economics Education, 1944-1947. Executive secretary New York State School Food Service Association, 1962-1964. Sometime member faculties Syracuse University, Cornell University, Columbia, New York University and others.

Member graduate faculty Russell Sage College Evening div., Albany, 1959-1960. Consultant home economics education.
