Career
First, he worked as a sanitation expert with Union Contracting Company in Vancouver. He arrived in China in 1913. He was employed as clerk of works and supervisor of modern methods of sanitation pertaining to adoption of revised methods in dealing with sewage question of Greater Shanghai. He also worked as a special police constable at Municipal Police.
