Trudy Hanchett Harris was born on May 3, 1949, in Utah, to Myron Hanchett, a rancher, and Marva Hanchett, a nurse.

Education

In 1972, Trudy received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Brigham Young University.

Career

Trudy Harris worked as a cooperating teacher for Idaho State University and was an affiliate faculty member of Idaho State University. She also was a teacher at Utah Community Action-Head Start and taught children in a kindergarten class in Idaho Falls, Idaho nearly for 20 years.

She writes the kind of books that she knows teachers want to use in the classroom and the kind of books that she wants to read to her own grandchildren. Currently, she teaches children's literature at Brigham Young University - Idaho.

Achievements

• Trudy Harris is a prolific writer, who is most commonly known for her notable works 100 Days of School, that in 2000 received the Kids Pick of the List award, from the American Booksellers Association, Pattern Fish and The Clock Struck One: A Time-telling Tale.
