Is said to have been very pretty and graceful and an accomplished player of koto. Tsubone Kogono attracted the attention ot Emperor Takakura, who fell madly in love with her. This infatuation of the Emperor for the girl aroused the envy of Empress Kenrei Mon-in (daughter of Kiyomori Taira) who planned to kill her. The girl came to know of this threat to her life and slipped out of the Palace one night and went into hiding. The Emperor missed her very much and ordered his men to find and bring her back. This enraged the Empress more than ever, and when the girl was brought back, the Em¬press cut off her tresses and banished her from the Court. After this no records are available of her, though some say that she drowned herself in Oi River. At the time of her expulsion she was only 22 years of age.
