Learned Western painting and sculpture under Shotaro Koyama and Keiun Kato, respectively. Entered Tokyo Art Academy Sculpture Special Course and graduated (1910).
Career
Ishii Tsuruzo appointed professor of the Tokyo Fine Arts School. Displayed "Mt. Arakawa" at the 5th Bunten Exhibition and received citation (1911). Exhibited "Rikishi" (sumo wrestler) at the 4th Inten Exhibition (1915). Since the 1st New Bunten Exhibition (1937), acted frequently as judge of the exhibition.
