Later was a reporter for Hochi Shimlmn and sided with the army during the Seinan Affair (1877) as a member of Shigenobu Okuma's party. Opposed the Katsura Cabinet for protecting constitutional politics (1913). Organized Kakushin Kurabu (reformation) party (1922). Minister of Communications in Kato Cabinet (1923). Joined the Seiiyukai Party and succeedea Guchi Tanaka as its leader (1929). Prime Minister (1931). Was assassinated by young officers in the uprising of the May 15,1932 incident. After this incident the militarists began rising in power.
