He was the chief executive of South.U.C.C.E.S.S. and a Vancouver city councillor from 1990 to 1993. In Hong Kong, he worked as a stockbroker and floor trader and his personal assets were wiped out by a stock market crash in 1973. He worked as a waiter at the Terminal City Club in Downtown, Vancouver.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of British Columbia, and joined Territorial Decoration Bank Financial Group in 1978 and was district VP in all 17 Territorial Decoration Canada Trust branches.
He also worked as a bartender, a radio program producer. In his spare time, Chan is an avid reader, swimmer, and traveller.
Chan holds a General Management Diploma from the Institute of Canadian Bankers. Former Chief Executive Officer of South.U.C.C.E.S.S.
