Joseph played basketball from an early age and played as a base in the Olentangy school district. Joseph's basketball team placed second in a state tournament.
Joseph formed Twenty One Pilots in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio, and then his high school friends Nick Thomas and Chris Salih would join him. The name of the band came up while reading. They were all my children by Arthur Miller.
