Utanosuke Kano

Background

Utanosuke Kano was born in 1513. Originally named Yukinobu, the younger brother of Motonobu and the 2nd son of Masanobu.

Career

Utanosuke Kano excelled in landscapes, portraits and pictures of birds and flowers. Keeping aloof from the strifes of Miyoshi, Hosokawa and Matsunaga he lived at the Miidera Temple and earned his livelihood by painting fans.
